Note: Not actually me.

FoohonPhotos.com

So lately I've been working on a photo gallery project. The first response I usually get from people is, "why?". Surely there are certain spaces and/or books where I can handle this sort of thing already with the added benefit of included network and notification functionality.

Well, the truth is, while myspace and facebook have done a fine job with image uploading and album managing, they still don't quite do it for me. There's something not quite right about them despite all those impressive tagging and email notification and multi-image upload forms and what have you. They've created very functional and useful tools for managing images, but to me they're still missing a "fun" component.

To say it another way: I can spend hours looking over photos on my computer, be them my own or ones sent from friends. I think this is because when I'm doing so, I'm not distracted. If looking at pictures is my primary goal, then facebook and myspace are full of too much noise.

So what about Flickr and the like? Yes, I'm aware that there are other dedicated photo sites out there. Still, they don't do it for me. Flickr was almost what I was looking for, but I'm going to try my hand at this and see where it goes.

At best, this will prove a useful and/or entertaining place for people. At worst, it'll be a site primarily for my own photos. And that's a win for me if it means that people don't have to log into myspace or facebook for me to share stuff with them.
